Pop star Justin Timberlake (44) has confessed that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
According to a report by the BBC on the 31st (local time), Timberlake shared on his social media that "as many of you know, I am not someone who reveals personal matters easily," and added, "But I want to share a little about what is happening to me."
He then stated, "I am fighting some health issues," and revealed, "I have been diagnosed with Lyme disease."
Lyme disease is a zoonotic infection that occurs when pathogens enter the body through a tick bite. Some individuals diagnosed with this disease experience symptoms such as fatigue, pain, and decreased energy.
Timberlake expressed that he was shocked by the Lyme disease diagnosis, but he understood why he had been feeling severe nerve pain, fatigue, and discomfort on stage. He added that he felt proud of continuing the tour after much contemplation.
Timberlake concluded his world tour concert, which began in April last year, the day before in Turkey. He faced criticism for showing a lack of enthusiasm during some performances, such as passing the microphone to the audience to encourage sing-alongs while not singing himself.
