Sunny from Girls' Generation revealed that she is preparing for a new life as a producer by leaving SM Entertainment and staying by the side of CEO Lee Soo-man.
On the 21st, the Life Insurance Social Contribution Foundation released an interview with Sunny through the mental growth platform 'Playlife'.
'Playlife' is a youth mental health platform operated by the Life Insurance Foundation since 2022, providing motivation and inspiration to young people through the experiences of various individuals. This interview was planned to allow Sunny, who is celebrating her 18th anniversary since debut, to share her honest experiences from her youth and convey how to love oneself and build a strong inner self.
Sunny, who has been active in various entertainment shows, has disappeared from the broadcast scene at some point. How has she been doing?
She stated, "I am going through a point that is both an extension of life and a turning point," and added, "Based on the experiences I had as Sunny from Girls' Generation, I am meeting juniors who share the same dreams. I am having new experiences while thinking about what they need and what I would have wanted to hear in the past."
Sunny emphasized, "As an artist, it is easy to lose confidence in the face of public evaluation, but one must learn to love oneself to be truly loved," and highlighted the importance of helping oneself to take care and build confidence.
Sunny has been studying psychology to find ways to love herself, and based on that experience, she told junior artists and young people, "Everyone grows at their own pace. The important thing is to have a heart that loves oneself," adding, "True growth of the heart is completed when one can embrace not only oneself but also those around them."
She also shared her feelings about her 18th anniversary. "In the past, I wanted to be someone cool and great, but now I am practicing accepting myself as I am," she said, "Realizing that I cannot satisfy everyone has made my heart much stronger."
She added, "It doesn't feel real that it's been 18 years. Rather than attributing meaning to the years, I reflect on whether I have lived that time well. I also think about whether the countless choices I made were the best ones. One thing is clear: I couldn't have come this far alone," expressing her gratitude for being able to discuss the present and future with her members.
She continued, "The recent topic is '20th anniversary.' I am thinking about how I want to spend the 20th anniversary and what I should do to make the fans happy," hinting that they are preparing for activities to celebrate their 20th debut anniversary.
After her contract with SM Entertainment ended, Sunny joined A2O Entertainment, founded by her uncle, producer Lee Soo-man. She is currently participating as a producer for the girl group A2O MAY.
