Comprehensive entertainment company Mound Media (CEO Shin Dong-ik) has acquired the fashion and accessory brand Reclow (CEO Kim Sung-jun).
This acquisition by Mound Media is a strategic decision aimed at ▲ expanding content IP formats ▲ enhancing the value chain and maximizing synergy ▲ securing a business foundation with sustainable growth potential.
Mound Media has been developing its business centered around music, building a diverse original IP base with entities such as 'Magic Strawberry Sound', which includes artists like Jeong Gi-go, Soyou, and Song So-hee, the independent label 'Diamond' by Lee Seung-yoon, music distributor 'Folkranos', and festival and performance planning company 'Wonder Rock'. Recently, it strengthened its market competitiveness by acquiring the label 'Authentic', which includes Gen Z rockstar Han Ro-ro, thereby expanding its label and musical diversity.
In particular, with the acquisition of Reclow, Mound Media has secured a fashion brand with product diversity including eyewear, rain boots, bags, and hats, thus acquiring various formats of IP beyond music and entertainment. This is expected to serve as a cornerstone for expanding the value chain through synergy with existing brands, rather than being limited to simply adding fashion IP, and for building a broader business portfolio.
Mound Media also has its own MD brand 'A0' (A-Zero), which oversees the MD business from product planning to production and distribution. Through the acquisition of Reclow, it has further solidified its position as a comprehensive content company by adding design capabilities and product lineup to its existing content IP and production infrastructure.
Mound Media, which has expanded its value chain through its own content IP (Mound Media) - IP-based product planning capabilities (Reclow) - production and distribution (A0), plans to showcase collaborative MD using its own artist IP as a pilot. Subsequently, it aims to expand its business through collaborations with external artists and brands, establishing a revenue model with sustainable growth potential.
Meanwhile, Reclow, acquired by Mound Media, started as an eyewear brand in 2016 and has recently expanded its product range to include various fashion accessories. It operates mainly through major department stores nationwide and its own online mall, and has recently opened a flagship store in Myeongdong, following Tokyo and Bali, to expand offline touchpoints with domestic and international consumers.
Regarding its series of acquisitions, Mound Media explained that it is a strategic choice to simultaneously enhance brand value and stabilize its revenue structure while expanding its IP-based business.
