The court has imposed a fine on a former director of the agency for Omega X, who was accused of assaulting member Jaehan.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 21 (Presiding Judge Jang Seong-jin) sentenced A, a director of Omega X's former agency Spire Entertainment (hereafter Spire), to a fine of 500,000 won for the assault on member Jaehan. A is also the wife of the company's representative.
The court pointed out, "A denies the crime vehemently and shows no signs of remorse." A's side has claimed that it was "a disciplinary action" and has appealed the ruling, asserting innocence.
Jaehan filed a complaint stating that after a performance in Los Angeles in October 2022, A forcefully pulled his hood and knocked him down in front of the hotel elevator. In response, the prosecution imposed a fine of 500,000 won. However, A contested this and requested a formal trial, awaiting the court's decision.
In addition to the assault charges, A is also accused of forcibly molesting six members (sexual harassment through abuse of power). The police have recognized the charges and have forwarded the case to the prosecution with a recommendation for non-custodial prosecution.
A has claimed that she was the one who was forcibly molested by Omega X member Hwichan and filed a complaint, which was also forwarded to the prosecution. Hwichan has also accused A of sexual harassment, but the police did not pursue this case.
Omega X, which debuted in 2021, has been in conflict with Spire since November 2022. Following a ruling in January 2023 that granted a suspension of the exclusive contract filed by the members, they moved to IPQ.
In relation to this, Spire has taken legal action against IPQ and the members, claiming tampering (pre-contact before contract termination). In response, the court ruled in October last year that "there is insufficient evidence to recognize tampering, and there is no other evidence to support this." Additionally, regarding the allegations of "coercive trading" filed against IPQ with the Fair Trade Commission, the commission decided on the 2nd of this month that there was "no wrongdoing."
Meanwhile, Omega X has not been able to continue significant activities since releasing their mini-album 'To.' in Japan last November.
