The global indie musician music distribution platform Mixtape (mixtape.) has undergone a system overhaul that significantly shortens the album release time for newly registered musicians.
YG Plus, which is responsible for the development and operation of Mixtape, announced on the 29th, "With this revamp, musicians who newly join the membership can release their albums just 7 days after their registration date."
Until now, newly registered musicians had to follow the same release schedule as existing members, often taking more than 3 weeks on average to release their first album. Therefore, Mixtape has completely improved its system to provide an environment where musicians can quickly showcase their works without losing the flow of creativity.
The Mixtape operation team stated, "We have improved the system so that musicians who join Mixtape for the first time can announce their music without waiting," adding, "The key to this revamp is to help maintain the passion and creative speed right after making music."
This revamp will be applied immediately starting from May 2025, and all newly registered musicians can release their first album at least 7 days later, depending on their album preparation status. Mixtape plans to continue making ongoing system improvements to create a musician-centered distribution environment.
Meanwhile, Mixtape has surpassed 5,000 cumulative members and 1.5 billion won in cumulative adjacent rights settlement, establishing itself as a digital platform where indie musicians can distribute their music easily and transparently. In particular, it has garnered attention in the industry for lowering the barriers to entry for distribution through a commission-free settlement system, musician-friendly services, and real-time chat consultations.
