YG's Chief Producer Yang Hyun-suk presented a new master plan for YG, which includes strengthening the activities of its artists such as BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE, as well as accelerating the launch of new artists.
On the 26th, YG Entertainment posted on its official blog ‘BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, AND UPCOMING ROOKIES | YG ANNOUNCEMENT’. This is the first interview video of the year featuring Chief Producer Yang Hyun-suk, which contains YG's blueprint for the second half of 2025.
After a 7-month absence, Yang first excited global music fans by saying that he would soon be able to announce news of BLACKPINK's new song. The last new song from BLACKPINK was the regular album ‘BORN PINK’, released on September 16, 2022, marking the official announcement of new music after about 2 years and 8 months.
Additionally, BABYMONSTER will also begin intensive activities. Starting with a pre-release single on July 1, a second single in September, and a mini album release on October 1, a busy schedule has been announced. The title of the pre-release single is ‘HOT SAUCE’, which is a new song about 8 months after the release of their first regular album [DIRP] on November 1, 2024.
Yang noted, “‘HOT SAUCE’ is a hip-hop song from the mid to late 1980s. It’s very addictive, and I hope it brings joy this summer as a gift. I thought about what it would feel like for BABYMONSTER, with an average age in their teens, to sing a genre of hip-hop music from 40 years ago, and I was very satisfied with the result.”
TREASURE will also release a new mini album on September 1. Yang stated, “I will do my best to support TREASURE so that they can release more than two albums each year and continue to meet with fans.” Following their comeback, TREASURE is set to embark on a new world tour starting in October.
Yang surprised music fans by revealing not only the schedules of the artists but also the composition of YG trainees and plans for new artist announcements, which had been shrouded in mystery.
Yang expressed his intention, saying, “Currently, YG is preparing to debut two boy groups and two girl groups, and I want to launch at least one boy group next year.” He particularly mentioned that there is a girl group he wants to launch as soon as possible, and the number of members has already been confirmed as four.
YG plans to sequentially release practice videos of the four members starting from the 28th. Yang stated that, as with BABYMONSTER before their debut, he would showcase the practice videos of the next new artists in advance, saying, “I hope you evaluate their skills as they are, as you see and hear them.”
However, since Yang mentioned that he wants to focus more on BABYMONSTER's growth until the end of next year, the official debut date for YG's new girl group is expected to be after that.
With the imminent announcement of BLACKPINK's new song, the large-scale world tour starting on July 5, BABYMONSTER's July single and October mini album release, and TREASURE's mini album release on September 1 and world tour schedule in October, YG is expected to have a busier second half of 2025 than ever.
At the end of the interview, Yang emphasized that he has significantly changed and developed YG's internal system over the past year. He stated that accelerating the debut of new artists and increasing IP is his top priority, and he expressed his determination to show the upgraded YG system starting in the second half of this year.
Meanwhile, after the interview, the video displayed the caption ‘THE FIRST MEMBER OF YG’S NEXT GIRL GROUP. STAY TUNED’. With Yang showing exceptional confidence, global music fans are focused on the first member of the four-member girl group that will be unveiled on the 28th.
