The group NewJeans has added a significant award at a Japanese music awards ceremony.
NewJeans' single album track 'Ditto' won the 'Best K-Pop Song in Japan' category at the 'Music Awards Japan 2025' held in Kyoto on the 21st.
The 'Music Awards Japan' is an awards ceremony created in collaboration with five major local organizations, including the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and government agencies. It determines the winning artists and works based on various objective indicators such as Billboard Japan, Oricon, and votes from over 5,000 music industry professionals.
Released on December 19, 2022, 'Ditto' received an award at this year's ceremony, two years and five months after its release. This reaffirms the enduring appeal of NewJeans' music, loved regardless of time and place.
'Ditto' has set several new records for NewJeans. With this song, they entered the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 just six months after their debut. Additionally, 'Ditto' achieved a remarkable record of 99 consecutive days at number one on Melon, a major domestic music site, and topped the annual comprehensive chart for 2023, also winning the Excellence Award at that year's 'Japan Record Awards.'
