Singer Kim So-yu has become able to pursue independent activities after winning a lawsuit for the suspension of her exclusive contract with her former agency, Arang Entertainment.
On the 13th, the 51st Civil Division of the Seoul Southern District Court ruled in favor of Kim So-yu in her provisional injunction lawsuit against A, the representative of her former agency, Arang Entertainment.
The court acknowledged the facts claimed by Kim So-yu, including the agency's failure to settle accounts, unauthorized contract of portrait rights, and failure to fulfill contractual obligations. The court stated that due to the agency's faults, the trust relationship between the parties to the contract has been broken, making it difficult to maintain a normal exclusive contract relationship.
Kim So-yu's legal representative, attorney Kim Tae-yeon from Taeyeon Law Office, stated, "It seems that the court has carefully examined the matter and made a judgment." He added, "We expect a meaningful ruling in the main case based on this provisional decision."
In December of last year, Kim So-yu filed a provisional injunction against her former agency's representative A, citing unauthorized contract of portrait rights and failure to settle accounts.
Kim So-yu debuted in 2018 with "New Moon" and gained recognition by finishing 9th in the competition "Miss Trot." In August 2024, she appeared in KBS1's "Human Theater – Devoted Daughter Singer Kim So-yu," where she touched many viewers by selflessly caring for her ailing father while continuing her singing career.
