The funeral for the late singer Wheesung, who suddenly passed away on the 10th, is being arranged belatedly. The background to this decision was the heartfelt persuasion from friends who cherished him during his lifetime.
According to reports from Maeil Business Star Today on the 12th, fellow entertainers around Wheesung persuaded the bereaved family to proceed with the funeral arrangements so that many who loved him could pay their respects. In particular, singer K.Will, known to be a close friend of the deceased, reportedly returned home immediately after hearing the sad news despite being on an overseas schedule.
According to his agency, Tajo Entertainment, the bereaved family was initially in extreme shock from the sudden news and, especially concerned about the health of the deceased's mother, decided not to hold a funeral.
However, with the sincere persuasion of his colleagues, the bereaved family changed their mind. Ultimately, the agency announced a change in their previous stance, stating, “After much consideration, the bereaved family wishes to provide a time for mourning. We would appreciate it if you could join us in accompanying the late Wheesung on his final journey, who lived a lonely life.”
The late Wheesung was found dead at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, at 6:29 PM on the 10th. He was 43 years old. The initial autopsy result from the National Forensic Service stated, “The cause of death is unknown.” The results of the drug tests are expected to be available in two weeks.
The late Wheesung's funeral will be held at the Samsung Medical Center funeral hall on the 14th. The burial will take place on the 16th at the Gwangneung Memorial Park.
