Hats to Hearts, the new girl group from SM Entertainment (hereafter SM), expressed their debut feelings in this way.
On the afternoon of the 24th, a showcase was held to celebrate the release of SM's rookie girl group Hats to Hearts' first single ‘The Chase’ at Yes24 Live Hall located in Gwangjang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The venue was bustling with reporters eager to see Hats to Hearts. The event was hosted by broadcaster Jaejae.
Hats to Hearts is the girl group that SM is launching after a five-year gap since Aespa, and they have been receiving intense attention even before their debut. Hats to Hearts consists of a total of 8 members: Jiwoo, Carmen, Yuha, Stella, Jueun, Aina, Ian, and Yeon.
After the photo time, when the members were about to continue with their first greetings after taking their seats, a structure installed behind the stage malfunctioned, causing a stir in the venue. Eventually, a situation arose where the members had to hurriedly leave their seats, drawing attention.
Back on stage, Hats to Hearts said, “It doesn’t feel real that we are debuting. We waited a long time for this day, and we are so happy and will work hard. We are sincere about our music and stage, and we will show you a wonderful performance,” adding, “Although I am nervous, the excitement is greater. It’s a moment we have waited for a long time, so I feel overwhelmed and thrilled. We have worked hard to prepare for our debut, so please look forward to showing you various sides of us.”
Hats to Hearts is a team that aims to connect with global fans through their own mysterious and beautiful musical world, filled with various emotions and heartfelt messages, and to move forward together as a larger ‘us.’
Afterward, Hats to Hearts took time to explain their debut songs. They introduced the title track ‘The Chase’ along with the included song ‘Butterfly.’ The members expressed their deep affection, stating that they selected their debut song after much thought and effort with the company officials.
Next, Hats to Hearts presented a live stage of their debut song ‘The Chase.’ The debut song ‘The Chase’ features a dreamy sound and vocal melodies that create a mysterious and strange atmosphere. The track is characterized by a mood change centered around intense and unique bass synths.
Despite being newcomers, the Hats to Hearts members showcased a high-quality performance without any signs of nervousness. Their fresh outfits, matched with short skirts, made their debut even more stylish and sophisticated.
The lyrics of ‘The Chase’ convey a confident message of “I will create my own path” and express excitement and curiosity about the new world they will unfold.
The music video released simultaneously depicts the eight members going on a field trip, experiencing a mysterious phenomenon that breaks them out of inertia, deciding to step off the predetermined path, and heading into the city to draw their own blueprint. The music video is simultaneously opened at the large media facade of Shinsegae Square at the main store of Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of SM Entertainment's founding. In this regard, Hats to Hearts stated, “It is an honor to debut on the 30th anniversary. Just as our seniors have created, we will also become ‘the future of SM.’”
The 8-member Hats to Hearts has become the multi-member group that SM presents since Girls' Generation, which debuted as a 9-member group in 2007. Hats to Hearts said, “Each member has different charms, but the synergy that comes when we come together will be our greatest strength.”
Aina added, “It was brief, but senior Changmin from TVXQ told us to cheer up. I was grateful,” showing the chemistry between SM's seniors and juniors.
Despite feeling somewhat nervous and trembling, the Hats to Hearts members could not hide their rookie spirit. They set a firm goal of wanting to win the rookie award this year and achieve first place on music shows.
