On the 10th, a video titled "Seungri's latest status" was released online, capturing the attention of netizens. In the released video, Seungri is seen filming on the street with women presumed to be Chinese.
In the video, Seungri is leading the women in Chinese, and the background appears to be a residential area in Korea. Seungri is dressed up and dancing with the women.
Upon confirmation, it was revealed that the video was not recently filmed but was shot in 2019 by a Chinese influencer. At that time, Seungri was actively participating as a member of Big Bang.
Seungri came under scrutiny as a key figure in the so-called "Burning Sun" incident that erupted in November 2018.
Seungri was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for a total of 9 charges, including violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Traffic, prostitution, sexual violence crimes, habitual gambling, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act, violation of the Food Sanitation Act, embezzlement in the course of business, violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement), and instigation of special assault. Seungri was released after completing his sentence at the Yeongju Correctional Facility in February 2023.
As a result of this incident, Seungri not only left his group Big Bang but also retired from the entertainment industry.
