Singer JK Kim Dong-wook has once again made political statements while supporting the opposition to President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment.
On the 9th, JK Kim Dong-wook posted on his social media with the phrase ‘42.4%’ along with a clip from the music video of his past song ‘Fight’. This was to express his feelings regarding a recent opinion poll released that day.
According to a survey conducted by the domestic media outlet Dailyan, commissioned by the polling agency Opinion Research, the results from a 100% wireless ARS method survey conducted over two days from the 6th to the 7th showed that 42.4% of respondents said they “support” President Yoon. Meanwhile, 55.8% responded that they “do not support” him.
This represents a 12.0 percentage point increase in the “support” responses compared to the previous survey conducted two weeks ago, while the “do not support” responses decreased by 12.4 percentage points. Notably, this is the first time since a survey in March of last year that President Yoon's approval rating has exceeded 40%.
In response to these results, JK Kim Dong-wook stated, “No matter how much I try not to be swayed by numbers, I cannot go against the data. South Korea is undoubtedly filled with patriots who exceed 50%. The 2030 generation is working hard even now. Our elders. Even Koreans living abroad are rushing back to the country out of concern! Isn’t this what it means to protect the country?”
He continued, “No matter how many negative comments you write, uncle does not see your low-level comments. I am grateful for the requests to come perform in Gangseo-gu and for the many supportive DMs sent from various places. Through my concerts, I will prove why JK Kim Dong-wook is a legend, not just a rumor.” He added, “If you come, I will also give you DC (direct communication) and enlighten you through music.”
Earlier, JK Kim Dong-wook announced on the 7th that his concert in Daegu was canceled, stating, “It was canceled due to the absurd incitement of a few external individuals who filed complaints with the intent to threaten that they would protest if the concert proceeded, not due to complaints from the attendees.”
