The winners of the 2024 KBS TV Drama Short Drama Script Contest have been announced.
In its 37th year, the KBS TV Drama Short Drama Script Contest selected three outstanding works: "Kill the Zombie" (written by Mo Ha-eun), "Please Box" (written by Woo Ok-jo), and "When You Turn the Alley" (written by Park Min-jeong). Additionally, three commendable works were chosen: "Nobody's Person" (written by Lee Sun-hwa), "Rust" (written by Jeong Hyo), and "In the Elevator" (written by Hong Jin-i), totaling six works.
A total of 1,748 scripts were submitted for the short drama script contest held in July, which underwent three stages of evaluation involving producers and writers.
On the 19th, an award ceremony was held at the KBS headquarters with all the winning writers present. KBS President Park Jang-beom, Kim Young-jo, head of the Drama Center, the executive producer, and other Drama Center officials attended to congratulate the winners.
Mo Ha-eun, the writer of the outstanding work "Kill the Zombie," expressed, "I gained confidence while contemplating my career path. I will write with more passion and dedication than anyone else." Woo Ok-jo, the writer of "Please Box," stated, "I will strive to meet the expectations as KBS has believed in my potential." Park Min-jeong, the writer of "When You Turn the Alley," shared, "It feels like a door that was not opening has finally opened. I will continue to knock on doors diligently in the future."
KBS President Park Jang-beom remarked, "Drama writers play a fundamental role in creating the foundation of various popular cultures. We will continuously foster an environment where we can collaborate to create works that bring joy and emotion to viewers."
The winners received certificates along with cash prizes of 10 million won for outstanding works and 5 million won for commendable works. The winning scripts will undergo further refinement and are set to be produced as part of KBS's short drama series "Drama Special."
