Singer and actor Lee Jin-hyuk has been granted an exemption from military service due to congenital heart disease.

On the 27th, Lee Jin-hyuk's agency, Bill Entertainment, confirmed to Maeil Business Star Today, "It is true that Lee Jin-hyuk has received a military service exemption due to congenital heart disease."

Lee Jin-hyuk revealed his health condition while appearing on the MBC variety show 'Radio Star' in August 2019. He stated, "I have a heart condition. I had surgery right after I was born. It was a disease where the valve does not function properly. People thought I had a scar from surgery and that everyone had a 'bird chest.' It was around the 4th or 5th grade that I realized, 'I am the only one with this condition.'

He continued, "I didn't think much of it, but when I joined the company to become an idol, I found my stamina was much lower than other kids. My mother would say, 'If it's hard, don't do it.' (But I became stubborn) and returned my vacation days to practice every day. As I trained, my heart grew and my muscles developed, and I got better. My doctor said it was amazing. I have improved a lot. I still receive regular check-ups."

Meanwhile, Lee Jin-hyuk debuted in 2015 with the group Up10tion. He gained recognition after appearing on the Mnet audition program 'Produce X 101.' He is currently active as both a singer and an actor.
