Celebrating its 30th anniversary, MBN is launching a year-long national campaign over 52 weeks.
The 'A Better Tomorrow' campaign, which started on the 1st, is a project that interviews representative figures from various fields, both domestic and international, about the current issues facing South Korea and the solutions they propose.
Following Harvard Professor Michael Sandel, the second participant is Monk Jinwoo, the head of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
Monk Jinwoo, who is the co-chair of the 16th Korean Religious Leaders Council and the president of the Korean Buddhist Federation, is taking the lead in rejuvenating Korean Buddhism by engaging with the MZ generation, including meeting comedian Yoon Seong-ho, who is gaining popularity as a new monk.
For 'A Better Tomorrow', Monk Jinwoo emphasizes that “the key is to reduce conflicts and achieve community harmony through mutual respect and the teachings of compassion,” and he recommends “5 minutes of Zen meditation” each day.
He expresses hope for a warmer and more harmonious South Korea by saying, “Through Zen meditation, I hope to let go of greed and anger, listen to and empathize with the stories of our neighbors, and find solutions for healing wounds.”
As part of the 30th anniversary special project, the 'A Better Tomorrow' campaign will be produced as short video content and will be scheduled between MBN's various broadcast programs to reach viewers.
In January, following Professor Michael Sandel, Monk Jinwoo (head of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism), Director Cho Dong-cheol (KDI Korea Development Institute), Chairman Kim Byeong-jun (Korea Community Chest), and Im Si-hyun (archery athlete) will participate in the year-long campaign.
