Indeed, the theater scene is dominated by Japanese anime. Following ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’, it’s now ‘Chainsaw Man: The Movie’, and next up is ‘Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie - Shibuya Incident’.

According to the results from the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 13th, the Japanese animation ‘Chainsaw Man: The Movie’ has topped the box office, surpassing domestic films ‘Boss’ and ‘No Way Out’. It attracted 104,403 viewers the previous day, bringing its cumulative audience to 1,836,680.

Prior to this, ‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’ created a sensation, nearing a cumulative audience of 5.4 million, ranking second in the all-time Japanese anime box office rankings, and emerging as a new powerhouse. It has easily surpassed the 2 million mark, which has become a 'magical barrier' for Korean films.

Additionally, another Japanese anime, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie - Shibuya Incident’, has risen to the top of the pre-booking rankings for upcoming releases, indicating it will continue the box office success.

Set to be released on the 16th, the new contender ‘Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie - Shibuya Incident’ depicts the friendship and tragic beginnings of two sorcerers, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, during the brilliant summer of 2006.

The popular manga ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’, which has surpassed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide, has its key episode ‘Shibuya Incident’ re-edited for the big screen, promising overwhelming immersion. From the youthful past of the strongest sorcerers Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto to intense action scenes featuring the physically imposing villain Toji Fushiguro, it is expected to captivate audiences with a variety of spectacles.

In particular, it is considered a must-watch episode before the upcoming release of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie - Shibuya Incident X Death Painting’ later this year.

Following the encore premiere screening held last weekend, reviews have been pouring in, with comments like “Even knowing the story, the immersion in the theater is different” (CGV, Jin Jeong****), and “It’s great to see it on the big screen. The visuals and OST are amazing” (CGV Hong**), further heightening expectations.
