A special exhibition featuring director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, known for films like 'Evil Does Not Exist' and 'Drive My Car', is set to take place.
On the 31st, CGV announced that it will host a special exhibition showcasing five of Ryusuke Hamaguchi's early works at CGV Art House locations nationwide.
Running from August 6 to 19, the 'Ryusuke Hamaguchi Early Works Special Exhibition: Like Nothing Happened' will feature the director's first film, 'A Face Like Nothing Happened', which will be screened for the first time in South Korea.
Ryusuke Hamaguchi has been recognized as a next-generation master director from Japan, having won major awards at global film festivals, including the Jury Prize at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival for 'Coincidence and Imagination', the Best Screenplay and International Critics' Prize at the 74th Cannes Film Festival for 'Drive My Car', the International Feature Film Award at the 94th Academy Awards, and the Jury Prize at the 80th Venice International Film Festival for 'Evil Does Not Exist'.
This special exhibition will allow audiences to experience works from various periods that have shaped the director's artistic world.
First, the 43-minute medium-length film 'A Face Like Nothing Happened' (2003), directed and acted in by Hamaguchi during his time at the Tokyo University Film Research Club, will be screened for the first time in South Korea. Additionally, the 58-minute film 'I Will Love You Forever' (2009), which depicts episodes surrounding a secret revealed on a wedding day, will also be shown.
The film 'Intimacy' (2012), which divides the preparation process and performance of the play 'Intimacy' into two parts, will be screened with a total runtime of 4 hours and 15 minutes, including a 10-minute intermission.
The 54-minute medium-length film 'The Touch of Horror' (2013), which draws out authenticity through silent gestures and reticent characters, and the 38-minute film 'Heaven Is Still Far Away' (2016), which unravels relationships entangled with loneliness, sadness, and death in a surreal setting, will also be featured in this special exhibition.
To enhance the experience for customers attending this special exhibition, CGV will hold an event where they will distribute exhibition posters and individual film posters on a first-come, first-served basis.
