
‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘High Five’ are leading the theaters in June, entering a period of calm.
According to the integrated computer network of movie ticket sales by the Korean Film Council on the 18th, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (directed by Dean DeBlois) attracted 25,290 viewers the previous day, with a cumulative audience of 1,027,538.
‘How to Train Your Dragon’ is a live-action adaptation of the animated film of the same name released in 2010, telling the story of a boy named Hiccup (voiced by Mason Thames) who is not recognized due to his Viking-like appearance and personality, and the legendary dragon Toothless, shrouded in mystery, who changes the world.
In 2nd place is ‘High Five’ (directed by Kang Hyung-cheol). On the same day, it gathered 22,077 viewers, with a cumulative audience of 1,548,950.
Released on the 30th of last month, ‘High Five’ is a comic action film about five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and their encounters with those who seek their abilities. Actors Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Hee-won, Oh Jung-se, and Park Jin-young collaborated on this project.
3rd place is ‘Sin Myung’. It attracted 15,018 viewers, with a cumulative audience of about 610,000.
‘Sin Myung’ is South Korea's first occult political thriller, depicting the story of a woman, Yoon Ji-hee (played by Kim Gyu-ri), who seeks power through mysterious forces, and a journalist tracking the enormous truth hidden behind her. It is inspired by former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Geon-hee. It has already surpassed the break-even point.
4th place is ‘Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning’ (directed by Christopher McQuarrie), with a cumulative audience of about 3.2 million.
As of 8:50 AM on that day, the real-time reservation rate ranked 1st is ‘28 Years Later’. Following it are ‘F1 The Movie’, ‘Elio’, and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ in order.
