CJ CGV and the Korea Baseball Organization (hereinafter referred to as 'KBO') announced on the 12th that they have signed a business agreement regarding the exclusive live broadcast and promotion of the '2025 and 2026 KBO League' in theaters.
The signing ceremony, held at the Korea Baseball Hall located in Gangnam, Seoul, was attended by CJ CGV CEO Jeong Jong-min, KBO President Heo Koo-yeon, and other officials from both companies.
With this agreement, CJ CGV and KBO will present exclusive live broadcasts of the KBO League in theaters for 2025 and 2026, following last year, and will work to create cultural spaces where baseball can be enjoyed nationwide by maximizing the synergy between baseball and theaters.
Starting from the regular season opening on the 22nd, theater live broadcasts will be available. The first live broadcast games will be the 'Doosan Bears vs SSG Landers' and 'NC Dinos vs KIA Tigers' matches, taking place at 2 PM on the 22nd. Following this, two games will be broadcast live every Sunday, with a special arrangement for the opening week where two games will be broadcast on both the 22nd and 23rd.
Ticket reservations for these four games will open sequentially from 11 AM on the 18th through the CGV mobile app and website. Following the regular season, there are plans to also broadcast the All-Star Game and postseason live.
Additionally, the SCREENX live broadcast, which was first introduced during the fourth game of last year's Korean Series, will be officially launched under the name 'SCREENX LIVE', continuing regular screenings.
SCREENX LIVE is a theater live broadcast that expands the real-time game scenes not only on the central screen but also onto the left and right walls, providing an overwhelming sense of presence with 5.1 channel surround sound, allowing audiences to watch the game and cheering sections from various perspectives. During the SCREENX live broadcast of the fourth game of last year's Korean Series, the theater sound conveyed the live atmosphere, and the enthusiastic cheers of the audience filled the screening room, showcasing the strengths of the SCREENX format. As expectations for SCREENX live broadcasts have grown among baseball fans, there are plans to present SCREENX LIVE once or twice a month in 2025.
A new 'Monthly CGV Scene-Stealer Award' will also be established, expecting enthusiastic participation from the audience. This event will select one individual who creates movie-like memorable moments during the KBO League, including players, staff, cheerleaders, and all personnel working at the baseball stadium. The selection will be made through fan voting on the CGV mobile app or website, and the winner will receive a prize of 1 million won along with a Cine de Chef movie & dining package for two.
In addition, CJ CGV plans to continuously create opportunities to communicate with fans through viewing parties and various events. In particular, a baseball-specialized screening room will be introduced at CGV Incheon 2.
