The film ‘Flow’ has won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 97th Academy Awards.

On the 2nd (local time), at the 97th Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, ‘Flow’ embraced the trophy for Best Animated Feature. ‘Flow’ celebrated its victory over strong contenders such as ‘Inside Out 2’ and ‘Wild Robot’.

Director Gints Zilbalodis expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank the Academy, Blender, my parents, and my cat and dog. I hope this award opens doors for independent filmmakers around the world. We are all in the same boat, and we must overcome our differences.”

‘Flow’ has been recorded as the first film in Latvian cinema history to win an Oscar. Born in 1994, director Gints Zilbalodis has become the youngest winner among all Oscar winners for Best Animated Feature.

Gints Zilbalodis's ‘Flow’ tells the dazzling adventure of a cat, a golden retriever, a capybara, a lemur, and a snake eagle, who embark on a journey to the end of the world aboard an old boat that became their only refuge after a great flood covered the earth. It will be available in theaters nationwide starting March 19.
