Actor Moon Seung-yu made his first appearance in 'The Tyrant's Chef'.
In the 6th episode of tvN's 'The Tyrant's Chef', which aired on the 7th, Moon Seung-yu captivated viewers with a dazzling cooking performance and sharp-eyed acting as Abisu, a chef from the Ming Dynasty.
Abisu is the nephew and apprentice of the Ming Dynasty's chief chef, Dang Baek-ryong (played by Jo Jae-yoon), and is known as the 'Sichuan Cuisine Fairy' for creating a new tradition by combining Sichuan cuisine with dishes from other regions. Moon Seung-yu received praise for his role as Abisu, showcasing his Chinese language skills and delicate expressiveness.
In this episode, Abisu demonstrated his martial arts-like cooking skills while preparing food for U-gon (Kim Hyung-mook), who found Joseon's food unpalatable. During an impromptu green onion slicing competition with the chefs at Joseon's Suragan, he achieved a decisive victory with his overwhelming knife skills, signaling the emergence of a rival for Yeon Ji-young (Lim Yoona).
Especially with a fierce cooking competition that could determine the fate of Joseon and the Ming Dynasty approaching, Abisu, who received a damaged Chinese chef's knife from Yeon Ji-young, is drawing attention as a key character driving the tension in the drama.
Moon Seung-yu debuted in 2018 with the short films 'Black Flower' and 'Burton', and has shown a wide acting spectrum through new transformations in various works, including KBS1's 'Even if Deceived, a Dream', MBC's 'Gold Spoon', KBS2's 'My Heart is Beating', and MBC's 'Flowers Bloom at Night'.
