Director Hyun Hae-ri confessed that she is also a victim of Luna Coin and introduced the production process of the movie 'Crash'.

At the press screening and conference for the movie 'Crash' held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul on the afternoon of the 6th, Director Hyun said, "Personally, I am a victim of Luna Coin, so I had a lot to say."

Director Hyun, who stated that she "tried to direct in a neutral and multifaceted way while making the film," added, "My previous work was 'The Woman Who Worked as a Contract Employee Nine Times.' For my next project, I thought I should tell a story about a man who failed in business six times, focusing on startup fraud and the improper receipt of government subsidies. Then the Luna Coin incident happened, and I found it interesting to look into the real protagonist."

She continued, "I thought the process of becoming a protagonist who received startup investments and suddenly created a cryptocurrency, coming from Daechi-dong, was interesting, so I decided to abandon the narrative of six failures and create a new film based on the real protagonist."

'Crash' is a crime drama based on the true story of the cryptocurrency crash that shook the world with the evaporation of 50 trillion won. It is inspired by the Luna Coin crash incident, which resulted in 280,000 victims in South Korea. It is the last work of the late Song Jae-rim.

Director Hyun, who wrote and directed the film, received acclaim at the Cannes Drama Festival for 'The Woman Who Worked as a Contract Employee Nine Times' and has directed numerous current affairs programs. Initially, Director Hyun planned 'Crash' as a six-part web drama, but as the research on real people deepened, the weight of the story increased, leading to its reconfiguration as a feature film.

Director Hyun explained, "Originally, there were many black comedy elements, but considering that there are victims of Luna Coin and the weight of the crime is significant, I didn't want to lessen the crime or delve too deeply into the victims' stories. I thought it would be disrespectful to trivialize it, so I ended up removing a lot, resulting in a darker film that provokes deep thought."

Additionally, she said, "At that time, there was talk among my peers that if you didn't buy Luna Coin, you were a fool. It was a time when people had hope that it would rise 10 to 20 times, and I thought, 'If I buy coins again, I would be a fool,' but now I feel confused seeing the coins rise to almost a frenzy," adding, "I have no comment on the scale of the losses."

The film will be released on the 15th.
