The film ‘Hidden Face’ (directed by Kim Dae-woo) has surpassed 1 million viewers, achieving the highest box office performance among Korean restricted films released in the past 5 years. Unfortunately, it did not reach the break-even point (1.5 million), but it is set to begin a second run in home theaters.
According to the distributor NEW on the 6th, ‘Hidden Face’ will start simultaneous IPTV and VOD services in theaters from this day.
The film follows ‘Seong-jin’ (played by Song Seung-heon) as he searches for his missing fiancée ‘Soo-yeon’ (played by Jo Yeo-jeong), when ‘Soo-yeon’s junior ‘Mi-joo’ (played by Park Ji-hyun) appears. It unfolds as they witness the unmasked truth of ‘Soo-yeon’, who was thought to be missing, trapped in a secret space closest to them, creating a unique thriller.
The bold acting transformations of the three actors have drawn the audience deeper into the precarious relationships and desires, elevating the genre's excitement to its peak. As a result, the film has surpassed 1 million cumulative viewers, making it the highest-grossing Korean film rated for restricted audiences released in 2024, and the first film to surpass 1 million among restricted films released in the last 5 years since ‘Tazza: One Eyed Jack’ (2019).
