‘Firefighter’ Approaches 2 Million, Ranked 1st [MK Box Office]

The power of ‘Firefighter’ is impressive. It is already on the verge of surpassing 2 million.

According to the statistics from the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 18th, the film ‘Firefighter’ (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek) attracted 79,488 viewers the previous day, securing the top spot at the box office. The cumulative audience count is 1,924,425.

Released on the 4th, ‘Firefighter’ depicts the situation of firefighters who were deployed with the sole goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone, despite the harsh conditions during the Hongje-dong fire disaster in 2001. A ‘119 Won Donation Challenge’ is also underway, where ticket sales are donated to the National Fire Hospital, which is set to be completed in 2025. The first goal has already been achieved, and they are now racing towards the final target.

In second place is the Disney animation ‘Moana 2’ (directed by David G. Derrick Jr.), which attracted 31,586 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 2,802,860.

‘Moana 2’ tells the story of Moana, who receives an unexpected call from her ancestors and embarks on a perilous adventure with the legendary hero Maui and new crew members to break the curse of a hidden ancient island to prevent the destruction of her tribe.

In third place is the musical film ‘Wicked’ (directed by Jon M. Chu), which gathered 18,735 viewers, resulting in a cumulative audience count of 1,743,190. Fourth place goes to ‘Big Family’ (directed by Yang Woo-seok), starring Kim Yoon-seok and Lee Seung-gi, which attracted 18,564 viewers, with a cumulative audience count of 225,313. ‘One Win’ (directed by Shin Yeon-sik), starring Song Kang-ho, remained in fifth place with 9,581 viewers, totaling 299,223 cumulative viewers.

The real-time reservation ranking is led by the upcoming film ‘Harbin’ (33.3%), directed by Woo Min-ho, which is set to be released on the 24th. Following it are ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ (17.2%) and ‘Firefighter’ (10.9%).
