‘Firefighter’ has maintained its throne for the 13th day.
According to the tally from the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 17th, the film ‘Firefighter’ (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek) attracted 80,060 viewers the previous day, securing the top spot at the box office. The cumulative audience count stands at 1,844,944.
Released on the 4th, ‘Firefighter’ depicts the story of firefighters who were deployed during the 2001 Hongje-dong fire disaster, facing harsh conditions with the singular goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone. It also features the ‘119 Won Donation Challenge,’ where ticket sales proceeds are donated to the National Fire Hospital, set to be completed in 2025.
In second place is the Disney animated film ‘Moana 2’ (directed by David G. Derrick Jr.), which attracted 25,370 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 2,771,322.
‘Moana 2’ follows Moana, who receives an unexpected call from her ancestors and embarks on a perilous adventure with the legendary hero Maui and new crew members to break the curse of a hidden ancient island to prevent the destruction of her tribe.
In third place is the musical film ‘Wicked’ (directed by Jon M. Chu), which gathered 17,420 viewers, with a cumulative audience count of 1,724,455.
‘Wicked’ tells the story of Elphaba, who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda, who has not yet realized her true nature, as the two very different characters build a friendship while facing unexpected crises and adventures. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande star in the film.
Fourth place goes to ‘Big Family’ (directed by Yang Woo-seok), starring Kim Yoon-seok and Lee Seung-gi, which attracted 17,286 viewers, bringing its cumulative audience count to 206,754. Fifth place is ‘One Win’ (directed by Shin Yeon-sik), starring Song Kang-ho, which drew 7,652 viewers, with a cumulative audience count of 289,642.
The real-time advance ticket sales ranking is topped by ‘Harbin’ (32.7%), the new film by director Woo Min-ho. Set to be released on the 24th, ‘Harbin’ depicts the intense chase and suspicion between those heading to Harbin for a single purpose and those pursuing them in 1909.
Following closely are ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ (16.3%), ‘Firefighter’ (9.9%), and ‘Big Family’ (5.7%).
