Comedian Jung Se-hyup, who was loved for his dog character 'Chow Chow', passed away on the night of the 6th at the young age of 41. The sudden news has plunged the comedy world into deep sorrow.

A representative from the Korea Broadcasting Comedians Association stated, "The cause of death is not yet certain, but it is unrelated to leukemia, and heart attack is presumed to be the cause." Jung Se-hyup had revealed in a YouTube broadcast in 2022 that he had fought leukemia for five years and was cured through a bone marrow transplant, which adds to the tragedy.

Until recently, he actively participated in the KBS 'Gag Concert' recordings and continued his vibrant activities. Last month, he attended the memorial service for the late Jeon Yoo-seong, sharing laughter with his colleagues, which makes the news even more heartbreaking.

Jung Se-hyup debuted as a comedian in 2008 through SBS's 10th special recruitment and established himself as a notable figure in the comedy scene through shows like 'People Seeking Laughter' and 'Gag Tonight'. In particular, the 'Chow Chow' character he portrayed in dog costume on 'Gag Tonight - Hao Chow' was greatly loved by fans.

He returned to 'Gag Concert' last year and resumed his activities, recently reigniting the stage as 'Chow Chow' in the 'Battle of the Century' corner after 13 years.

The 'Gag Concert' team expressed their deep condolences through their official SNS, stating, "We express our deep sorrow at the sudden news of Jung Se-hyup's passing" and "We pray for the repose of the deceased."

The deceased's funeral is set up in Room 2 of the Hambeak Mountain Funeral Home in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, with the burial scheduled for 7:40 AM on the 9th. The burial site is reported to be Hambeak Mountain Memorial Park.
