Former member of the group Brown Eyed Soul, Seong-hoon, has expressed his position regarding his departure from the team.
On the 7th, Seong-hoon posted a lengthy message on his social media service (SNS), stating, "I did not decide to leave," and added, "I hope you understand that I wanted to protect the team until the end."
Seong-hoon left Brown Eyed Soul in March 2023. At that time, the agency stated, "We mutually agreed to terminate the exclusive contract amicably."
According to Seong-hoon, he was waiting for the recording of Brown Eyed Soul's new album in 2022, but it was difficult to record immediately due to member Naul's vocal condition. Unable to wait indefinitely, he prepared for his second album, but one day he learned through the internet that Naul was working on a solo project.
Seong-hoon recalled, "It was a huge shock for me, who had prayed until the day before, 'Please return Naul's voice.' I guess this is what you call a 'trigger.' The sorrow and anger I had endured for 20 years began to explode."
He also mentioned that he had to quit his personal YouTube channel, which had helped him get through tough times. He said, "The president told me I could no longer do YouTube," adding, "He even said that if I wanted to continue, I should kneel and beg Naul. The fact that I still wonder if the older members would forgive me still hurts me."
Seong-hoon ultimately quit YouTube, and later, the agency's president came to his house and presented him with a resignation contract. He stated, "In that moment, everything felt dark, but after much deliberation, we agreed on the condition that we would not engage in media play."
Seong-hoon emphasized, "It's okay to say that a tricycle is not a perfect number of three. If that's the case, my voice should have been excluded from the fifth album. Isn't that common courtesy?" He added, "The reason I'm writing this is that the warm hearts of fans who thankfully remember and cherish me feel like a burden. The clear fact is that (the departure) was not my choice."
Meanwhile, after Seong-hoon's departure, Brown Eyed Soul, now a trio (Naul, Young-jun, Jung-yeop), released their fifth regular album 'Soul Tricycle' on the 23rd of last month.
