Song Young-gil, the leader of the Sonamu Party, has revealed a letter from singer Kim Ho-jung, who is imprisoned for a drunk hit-and-run accident.

On the 3rd, Song posted on his SNS with the title, “The Chuseok holiday has begun. Here’s news about singer Kim Ho-jung.”

Song stated, “The hardest part of prison life is the holidays. With nearly ten days of holiday, I think of singer Kim Ho-jung, who has been incarcerated for over a year and four months, even more.”

He continued, “I have a connection with Kim Ho-jung, as we shared the same dormitory while he was imprisoned in Seoul Detention Center. Our situations were different, but the conversations and small gestures we shared in that narrow space during the most difficult times became a great comfort to each other.”

Recently, Song revealed that he visited Kim Ho-jung at the Yeoju So-mang Prison with his wife, stating, “Kim Ho-jung’s face looked particularly bright,” and added, “I encouraged him by quoting Mencius, hoping that this trial would allow Kim Ho-jung to experience deeper pain and love, and that it would be a time to build his inner strength to stand as a world-class singer.”

Additionally, Song mentioned Kim Ho-jung’s handwritten letter, saying, “He confessed that his mistakes weigh heavily on his heart, but even in that darkness, he showed a strong will to rise again,” and noted, “It contained a meaning of reflection and a new beginning.”

In the released handwritten letter, Kim Ho-jung wrote, “Thanks to you, I have gained the courage to understand why I need to stand on stage again and why I need to sing, and I have learned how to wisely overcome this time.”

He expressed, “Although I am confined, I will humbly reflect every day without fail and fill my time as Kim Ho-jung,” adding, “Everything is my fault. I will learn more humility in life here and strive to become Kim Ho-jung, who does not fall into the same mistakes as David.”

Kim Ho-jung was involved in a drunk driving incident in May last year, where he crossed the center line and collided with a taxi before fleeing the scene in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Afterward, it was revealed that he claimed his manager was driving or that there were circumstances of tampering with the vehicle's black box memory card. The first and second trial courts sentenced him to two years and six months in prison, and his sentence was confirmed when Kim Ho-jung gave up on appealing.

He was transferred to So-mang Prison in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, the first private prison in Asia, last August.
