Sunye, a former member of the group Wonder Girls, shared a tribute video for the late Charlie Kirk and faced backlash, prompting her to respond.

On the 17th, Sunye posted a lengthy message on her Instagram, starting with, "After watching a video that contains a wife's plea regarding the tragic shooting death of her husband, I shared a tribute post in my story with a heavy heart as a fellow mother."

She stated, "People I don't even know have come to my space to insult me and express their anger over political issues related to what Charlie Kirk advocated as a politician, such as far-right and extreme conservatism. And you even mention Wonder Girls. Why go that far?"

Sunye questioned, "Are you laughing with the thought that 'it's good' about the death of a life?" She emphasized, "I hope you do not get angry about my response of deleting and blocking comments from those who fill this space with impersonal language and unnecessary fights."

Additionally, Sunye remarked, "Leaving aside my identity as a professional, mother, and woman, I commemorated the tragic death of a person as an individual. I hope you refrain from pushing me into political or religious issues because of my tribute post, and from engaging in rude and impersonal behavior in my space."

Charlie Kirk, a supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump and a conservative political activist, was shot and killed on the 10th (local time) while attending a debate at Utah Valley University in Utah.

Prior to Sunye, members of the group Super Junior, Choi Si-won, and actress Jin Se-yeon also paid tribute to Charlie Kirk. Some netizens criticized them, stating that Charlie Kirk was known for his racist and misogynistic remarks during his lifetime.

Below is the full text of Sunye's message.

After watching a video that contains a wife's plea regarding the tragic shooting death of her husband,

I shared a tribute post in my story with a heavy heart as a fellow mother.

Then, people I don't even know came to my space to insult me and express their anger over political issues related to what Charlie Kirk advocated as a politician, such as far-right and extreme conservatism, and even mentioned Wonder Girls.

Why go that far?

A person has died, and there is a heart to commemorate.

So are you laughing with the thought that "it's good" about the death of a life?

Are you angry at me for not being silent?

I hope you do not get angry about my response of "deleting and blocking" comments from those who fill this space with impersonal language and unnecessary fights.

I commemorated the tragic death of a person as an individual, leaving aside my identity as a professional, mother, and woman,

and as an individual, I am living in a world where I want to leave a slightly better world for the next generation.

While we have different views and thoughts, I believe that because we are different, we can adjust towards a better direction, and through beautiful clashes, we can move towards a better world.

Because of my tribute post, please refrain from pushing me into political or religious issues,

and from engaging in rude and impersonal behavior in my space.
