Comedian Park Myung-soo recently expressed a negative opinion about the introduction of a 4.5-day work week.

On the 12th, during the KBS Cool FM program 'Park Myung-soo's Radio Show', the segment 'Search N Chart' featured broadcaster Jeon Min-ki discussing the recently emerging keyword '4.5-day work week'.

On that day, Jeon Min-ki said, "After 21 years, we might be able to leave work early on Friday," referring to the ongoing discussions in the political arena about the 4.5-day work week.

Jeon Min-ki added, "When I was young, I worked until Saturday. I thought it was great when work ended at noon on Saturday."

DJ Park Myung-soo also chimed in, saying, "When work ended at noon on Saturday, didn't we go home and eat? I think that's why we live like this now," and added, "Because we worked hard, we are where we are now."

Jeon Min-ki explained the recent discussions about the 4.5-day work week, stating, "The average annual working hours in our country are 1,904 hours, which is 185 hours more than the OECD average," and noted, "The discussion of the 4.5-day work week gained momentum due to the spread of flexible and remote work after COVID-19."

He further stated, "Public opinion is favorable," adding, "61% of the public supports it. Those against it point out wage cuts and limits on labor productivity."

Park Myung-soo responded, "What if we reduce this when there are no people? They say there is a lot of wasted time, but we should not waste it."

He continued, "As a freelancer, I work even during Chuseok. It's not bad to adapt to the times and exercise, but companies have their own perspectives," and emphasized, "Such matters require sufficient discussion. In a situation where the economy is not good, companies need to survive for us to survive."
