Actress Jeon Woo-hee expressed her confidence in melodrama.
On the 4th, a press conference for JTBC's new Friday drama ‘My Youth’ (written by Park Si-hyun, directed by Lee Sang-yeob and Ko Hye-jin) was held at The Link Hotel in Seoul. Attendees included Song Joong-ki, Jeon Woo-hee, Lee Joo-myung, Seo Ji-hoon, and director Lee Sang-yeob.
‘My Youth’ depicts the emotional romance between Sun Woo-hae (played by Song Joong-ki), who starts a normal life later than others, and Seong Je-yeon (played by Jeon Woo-hee), who unexpectedly has to disrupt her first love's tranquility. The story promises to deliver warmth and excitement as it follows the journey of reclaiming forgotten pieces of ‘myself’ through a reunion with a first love that gifted a dazzling moment in a dark and shadowy place.
Jeon Woo-hee stated, “It feels more lively and fresh than my representative work, ‘Melodrama is My Nature’. I feel it’s closer to a traditional melodrama. I even felt regretful about not having done melodrama until now. After focusing on melodrama, I thought I was specialized in genre works, but it turns out that melodrama is my true nature. While experiencing the essence of melodrama, I thought, ‘I must be suited for melodrama. Was romance more fitting for me?’”
She added, “The story itself is more about emotions than events or narratives. Expressing it subtly was a unique joy.”
‘My Youth’ will premiere on the 5th at 8:50 PM.
