KBS announcer Kim Jin-woong has been embroiled in controversy over inappropriate remarks, leading to the suspension of replays of 'Sadangui'.
On the 25th, Wavve announced that it would halt the replay service for certain episodes of KBS2's 'Sajangnim Gwi-eun Dangnagi Gwi' (hereafter 'Sadangui'). The episodes that have been suspended are episodes 165-167, 248, 251-253, and 320.
Episode 320 is the broadcast from the 24th featuring announcer Kim Jin-woong, and it is currently not listed in the replay section on the official KBS website. It has not yet been confirmed whether this is due to the controversy surrounding Kim Jin-woong's remarks.
Previously, Kim Jin-woong visited a marriage information company on 'Sadangui' and received counseling. The accompanying announcer, Eom Ji-in, mentioned that among the male juniors, the one who got married the best was Do Kyung-wan.
Kim Jin-woong responded, "I can't live like senior Do Kyung-wan. It may be disrespectful to my senior, but I can't live as someone's subordinate," to which Eom Ji-in retorted, "Why is Do Kyung-wan a subordinate?"
Kim Jin-woong then stated, "It seems like it wouldn't be easy. I can't provide that kind of support," which drew criticism for being rude.
Jang Yoon-jung later expressed her displeasure on her personal SNS, saying, "There is no relationship, yet you laugh. Words or actions that the other party cannot laugh at cannot be packaged as jokes or pranks. There are no subordinates among family."
Kim Jin-woong also posted a direct apology on SNS, stating, "I apologize for causing concern to seniors Do Kyung-wan and Jang Yoon-jung with my careless remarks during today's broadcast," and added, "I still lack experience and feel that this opportunity has come to me as a precious chance, so I was overly eager and not cautious. As a result, I ended up saying something I shouldn't have."
He continued, "Senior Do Kyung-wan has always encouraged me even when I was working in the region, and he is a warm senior who always told me to contact him if I was ever hungry, yet I have caused great trouble, and I feel truly sorry."
He also stated, "Through this incident, I have deeply felt how much pain thoughtless remarks can cause. I will always remain vigilant to ensure that such incidents do not happen again."
Later, Jang Yoon-jung also mentioned, "He contacted me after finding my number to convey his apology," and said, "It must have taken courage to apologize, and I believe that we should accept the apology considering that sentiment," thus accepting Kim Jin-woong's apology.
