A photoshoot featuring Aespa's Karina has been revealed.
Fashion magazine 'Harper's Bazaar' has unveiled global icons including Dua Lipa, Kate Moss, Adele Exarchopoulos, and Aespa's Karina.
The icons featured in 'Harper's Bazaar' do not conform to conventional concepts of creativity, expression, and leadership; they do not follow a linear path. They possess authority while also sparking curiosity in everyone. Instead of showcasing perfection or a smooth surface, they reveal depth, dimension, and bold adventurousness, demonstrating their journey of self-discovery in real-time. Through this process, they show us their true selves, allowing us to empathize with them. They ultimately expand and redefine what it means to be an icon.
The title of the September issue of 'Harper's Bazaar' Korea featuring the Korean icon Karina is 'The Super Star.' It highlights an icon of our time who represents the 4th generation of female idols and is writing the history of K-pop. The photoshoot captures Aespa's unique charm, known as 'Soe-mat.' Karina's unreal beauty drew admiration from the staff, with almost no difference between the monitor on set and the final retouched results. The natural perfection that even AI finds difficult to replicate proves why Karina is called 'The Super Star.'
Following the photoshoot, an interview with Karina took place. When asked if she has imagined what she would look like in five years, she replied, "A lot will change, but there are things I hope won't change. I just hope to work happily with the members and good people; I couldn't ask for more."
When asked how she relieves tension, Karina said, "Before going on stage, I always feel like 'I can't do this, I should run away.' My body shakes like a aspen tree. I think I feel alive in the emotion of tension. I can continuously accept and recognize new feelings. While working, I feel like I have less time to pay attention to my emotions to work efficiently. Then I look back and think, 'I'm still this nervous!' (laughs)."
In addition to Karina's photoshoot and interview, Bazaar's 12th Icons Portfolio highlights various artists, athletes, and actors who incorporate their true selves into their work. Featured are snowboarder Chloe Kim, hitmaker Benny Blanco, actress Sadie Sink, artist Chase Hall, R&B singer Raven Lyné, director Eva Victor, and comedian Megan Stalter.
The 2025 Bazaar Icons Project can be found in 21 editions worldwide, and Karina's photoshoot and full interview can be found in the September issue of 'Harper's Bazaar' Korea and on their website.
