The ex-wife of former short track national team member Kim Dong-sung has been referred to the prosecution after exposing the fact that he did not pay child support.
According to Yonhap News on the 12th, the Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul referred his ex-wife, A, to the prosecution in June on charges of defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.
A, who divorced Kim Dong-sung in 2018, provided his information to the internet site 'Bad Fathers', which reveals the identities of parents who do not pay child support.
She also claimed in a media interview that she was experiencing financial difficulties because she had not received the agreed-upon child support from Kim Dong-sung.
Kim Dong-sung filed a lawsuit against A for defamation due to the dissemination of false facts, but the police concluded that it constituted defamation based on the truth.
Meanwhile, Kim Dong-sung, a gold medalist at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, was once actively involved in entertainment and broadcasting. He married his current wife, Ahn Min-jung, in May 2021.
