Kim Byung-man's side clarified their recent statement regarding the reason for the adoption daughter's termination, saying, "It was not explicitly stated in the ruling, but there is an aspect where the damage caused by false accusations was acknowledged, which led to that interpretation."
On the 11th, Ten Asia revealed the ruling from the Seoul Family Court, which made a decision to grant the termination of the adoption lawsuit filed by Kim Byung-man against Mr. B.
According to the ruling, the court decided to terminate the adoption because the two had not met since around 2019 (or 2017), making it difficult to expect a harmonious father-daughter relationship, and considering that Mr. B is currently 25 years old and an adult.
Additionally, it was mentioned as a reason for termination that if the allegations of assault against Kim Byung-man's ex-wife, as stated by Mr. B in the investigation, are acknowledged, it could also constitute abuse against Mr. B.
Previously, on the 8th, after the court granted the termination of the adoption lawsuit, Kim Byung-man's side stated, "We acknowledged immoral acts due to false accusations related to the previous assault case." However, this media pointed out that such content was not included in the ruling.
Kim Byung-man's side stated, "The expression 'acknowledgment of immoral acts due to false accusations' was interpreted as acknowledging the damage caused by false accusations along with various factors due to the termination ruling, but we never stated that this was included in the ruling," and expressed regret for the confusion caused by the difference in interpretation of the ruling.
Kim Byung-man registered his marriage with Ms. S in 2010 and adopted Ms. S's daughter, Mr. B, granting her the same status as a biological child. However, after a long conflict, the two became estranged in September 2023.
During the divorce proceedings, Ms. S claimed, "I have seen my daughter wake up and witness her mother being hit, and I tried to stop it with my whole body," but the prosecution dismissed the charges of assault and injury against Kim Byung-man in November of last year.
Separately from the divorce, the legal relationship between Kim Byung-man and Mr. B was maintained. However, Kim Byung-man filed for termination of adoption three times, and after two dismissals, the termination request was granted.
On the 7th, Mr. B also filed a lawsuit against Kim Byung-man at the Seoul Family Court to confirm the biological relationship. Mr. B claimed, "It appears that Kim Byung-man had two children with another woman before the end of his marriage with Ms. S," and stated that confirmation is necessary.
Kim Byung-man, who is set to remarry in September, acknowledged that he has two biological children with his fiancée but emphasized, "We had children after the marriage breakdown."
