In celebration of the 80th anniversary of liberation, the documentary film 'Independence Army: The Unfinished War' is set to be released, with actor Jo Jin-woong and Park Hong-geun, chairman of the Hong Beom-do General Memorial Association, actively promoting it.
On the 6th, Jo Jin-woong and Chairman Park will appear on the YouTube current affairs program 'Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult News Factory' to discuss the behind-the-scenes of the film's production and the contemporary significance of the spirit of the independence army.
This work is a documentary that revisits the history of Korea's armed independence struggle, centered on the life of General Hong Beom-do, the commander-in-chief of the Korean Independence Army. It is co-produced by the Korean Liberation Association and the Hong Beom-do General Memorial Association, with Blue Film Works handling distribution. The narration is provided by Jo Jin-woong, who served as a special envoy for the repatriation of General Hong Beom-do's remains.
Jo Jin-woong expressed his motivation for participating in the film, stating, "I wanted to join in the effort to convey General Hong Beom-do's intentions," and added, "I want to inform the public that the spirit of the independence army has become the root of today's national army."
The film highlights the identity and mission of the national army in protecting the lives, property, and peace of the people. It emphasizes that the national army is a military among the people that inherits the traditions of the independence army through the noble sacrifices of figures like General Hong Beom-do, and it is evaluated as presenting a path for the national army to establish itself as a respected community.
Chairman Park Hong-geun stated, "In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of liberation, we produced this film with the intention of reaffirming the status of the national army that upholds history and continuity."
'Independence Army: The Unfinished War' is set to be released in theaters nationwide on the 13th.
