Comedian Lee Guk-joo has hit back at netizens who criticized her for living a 'luxurious' life in Japan.
On the 22nd, Lee Guk-joo released a video titled "Living Alone in Tokyo: Not in My 20s, But in My 40s" on her YouTube channel.
Lee Guk-joo stated, "I'm not living alone and taking on challenges in my 20s. I'm in my 40s. I need to take on challenges that are appropriate for my age; if I only eat hamburgers, my bones will deteriorate."
She added, "People say, 'You should challenge yourself alone,' and I do. But I have a friend I've known for 20 years here, so there's no reason not to use that support. Don't say, 'That sister eats those things because she has money.' I'm not 20 anymore..."
Lee Guk-joo started living alone in Tokyo, Japan, last April. She explained her reason for challenging herself to live in Japan, saying, "I turned 40, and next year will mark the 20th anniversary of my debut. For the past 4-5 years, I've been doing what I'm told like a hamster on a wheel. Now, I want to take on new challenges, which is why I came to Japan."
