Lyricist Kim Ina has come under fire for allegedly making rude remarks about the rookie group All Day Project.
On the 16th, the MBC FM4U program 'Kim Ina's Starry Night' featured All Day Project (Annie, Tarzan, Bailey, Youngseo, Woochan) as guests.
Since their debut on June 23, All Day Project began with self-introductions and discussed their double title tracks 'FAMOUS' and 'WICKED'. In response, Kim Ina said, “It’s only been 24 days since your debut, and the reactions are so quick. Doesn’t this make you a bit cocky?” which put the rookie group in an awkward position.
She also mentioned member Annie's family background. Annie, who has been in the spotlight as the eldest daughter of Shinsegae's Vice Chairman Jeong Yoo-kyung even before her debut, previously revealed that she chose the path of a singer despite her family's opposition.
When Kim Ina remarked, “Annie must have had the shortest trainee period, right? Because of needing to get permission from your family,” Annie replied, “That’s true, but I practiced secretly even before getting permission.”
However, Kim Ina continued with uncomfortable comments, saying, “I thought you wouldn’t have had much time to practice, so you might stand out on stage alone, but that wasn’t the case. Were you originally a good dancer?”
She also brought up Annie's motto, “This too shall pass,” asking, “Does that mean you want 'Starry Night' to end quickly?” which created an awkward atmosphere.
Viewers who watched the broadcast expressed their discomfort, saying, “I turned it off because of the embarrassing questions,” “This broadcast was very rude,” “There’s no respect for the other person,” and “I wish you wouldn’t speak carelessly.” However, despite the criticism, Kim Ina has not made any statement for five days.
Meanwhile, Kim Ina has been active as a lyricist since 2003, producing numerous hit songs including IU's 'You and I', 'Pink Shoes', Lim Young-woong, Brown Eyed Girls' 'Abracadabra', and IVE's 'IAM'.
