A male cast member of ‘I Am Solo’ has been handed over to prosecutors on charges of sexual assault.
The Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 1st that a man in his 30s, referred to as A, was sent to prosecutors on charges of quasi-rape on the 26th of last month.
A is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s in a parking lot in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, around 3:30 AM on the 21st of last month. The charge of quasi-rape applies to those who engage in sexual intercourse or indecent acts by taking advantage of a state of ‘mental incapacity’ or ‘inability to resist’.
The police urgently arrested A and applied for an arrest warrant, which was issued by the Seoul Western District Court on the 23rd of last month.
In particular, A is known to have appeared consecutively on the ENA·SBS Plus dating programs ‘I Am Solo’ and ‘I Am Solo, After That Love Continues’, which has intensified the controversy.
Subsequently, the production team of ‘I Am Solo’ stated, “We learned about the issuance of the arrest warrant for cast member A through news reports on the morning of the 24th,” and added, “Despite our requests for caution and vigilance regarding the cast members before and after the broadcast, we feel responsible and deeply regret that such an incident has occurred.”
They continued, “Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, the production team will take measures to ensure that viewers are not inconvenienced during the broadcast. We will also do our best to edit and delete the cast member from previously aired episodes.”
