Singer and songwriter Joo Young-hoon underwent emergency surgery for acute appendicitis while on a family trip.
On the 1st, Joo Young-hoon's wife, broadcaster Lee Yoon-mi, revealed through her social media account that while enjoying a trip to Jeju with their family, her husband Joo Young-hoon complained of severe abdominal pain and they had to visit the emergency room, where he underwent surgery.
She explained, “My husband was in so much pain that he couldn’t walk, so we went to the hospital by ambulance. After receiving an IV, he felt better and we left, and at that time, we thought it was just a stomach cramp.” She continued, “However, my husband’s condition worsened again, and we returned to the hospital. Around 1 AM, he started experiencing chills and high fever, so we headed to the emergency room.”
After conducting several tests, including a CT scan, Joo Young-hoon was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. An emergency surgery was then decided. Acute appendicitis refers to inflammation occurring in the appendix, which is about 10 cm long at the end of the cecum. Most patients recover without complications if surgery is performed early.
Lee Yoon-mi stated, “He is currently undergoing emergency surgery. I will update you once the surgery is successfully completed,” and shared a scene of Joo Young-hoon entering the operating room. A few hours later, she reported, “Thanks to everyone’s prayers, he successfully underwent an appendectomy. He needs to rest today, so I will make sure to take care of everything he needs while he is hospitalized.”
Joo Young-hoon and Lee Yoon-mi got married in 2006 and have three daughters together.
