Actor Kim Soo-hyun has been sued for damages by multiple advertisers.
According to New Daily on the 18th, Kim Soo-hyun is facing a total damages lawsuit amounting to 7.3 billion won from advertisers.
The companies that filed the damages lawsuit against Kim Soo-hyun include Cuckoo Electronics, a subsidiary of Cuckoo Holdings Group, Cuckoo Homesys, Cuckoo International Berhad in Malaysia, and the medical aesthetic platform company Clasis.
Cuckoo Electronics applied for a provisional seizure of a claim worth 100 million won in court last April. Clasis also applied for a provisional seizure of around 3 billion won at Kim Soo-hyun's Galleria Fore apartment in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on the 8th of last month.
Trendmaker, which operates the cosmetics brand Dinto, filed a damages lawsuit for 510 million won against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist last April. The health supplement company FromBio also filed a civil lawsuit for 3.96 billion won against Kim Soo-hyun and Gold Medalist last month.
The confirmed amount of the lawsuits so far totals 730 million won, including 850 million won from Cuckoo Electronics and 3.96 billion won from FromBio.
Kim Soo-hyun has been embroiled in allegations that he dated the late Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor and pressured her to repay debts, as claimed by the bereaved family. Kim Soo-hyun maintains that these allegations are "completely unfounded."
Amid the allegations and the damages claims from advertisers, Kim Soo-hyun's side stated, "Kim Soo-hyun is a victim of the crime committed by Gaseyeon (Garo-Setro Research Institute). The issues should be raised against the perpetrators, but due to contractual relationships, the arrows are being directed at the victim, Kim Soo-hyun." They added, "We plan to calculate all damages, including the active losses we have incurred and the decrease in sales compared to the average annual sales this year, and file a damages claim against Gaseyeon."
