Veteran actor Choi Jung-woo has passed away at the age of 69.
According to his agency Bless ENT, Choi Jung-woo passed away in the early hours of the 27th. The specific cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Choi Jung-woo debuted in 1975 with the play 'The Life of an Actor' and worked as a theater actor and voice actor through various theater companies, including Shinshi. He won the Grand Prize at the Seoul Theater Festival in 1990 and solidified his position as a theater actor by receiving the Acting Award at the Dong-A Theater Awards in 1999.
He appeared in the drama series 'God's Quiz', as well as 'Prosecutor Princess', 'Brilliant Legacy', 'Doctor Stranger', 'My Daughter Seo-young', 'Legend of the Blue Sea', 'Five Children', 'Starry Daughter-in-law', 'Even If Deceived', and films such as 'The Front Line', 'The Witch', and 'Escape: Project Silence'.
He portrayed various roles, including chairman, father, villain, and police officer, moving between the small screen and the big screen.
He also showcased his talent in the KBS2 drama 'Suspicious Woman', which ended in January, and the JTBC drama 'Ok-ssi's Story'. In particular, he displayed charisma in the role of Park Jun-ki, opposing the main character Gu Deok-yi (played by Lim Ji-yeon), in 'Ok-ssi's Story', which recorded a peak viewership rating of 13.6%.
With this year marking the 50th anniversary of his debut, netizens expressed their condolences, saying, "I saw him in a drama recently... it breaks my heart," "I can't believe it," "It's unfortunate," "Thank you for your great performances over the years," and "May he rest in peace."
The funeral home for the deceased is at Gimpo Woori Hospital, and the funeral will be held at 10 AM on the 29th.
