'Salim Nam' stimulated excitement with Park Seo-jin's sister Hyo-jung's budding romance and conveyed the touching friendship of Sechs Kies.
On the broadcast of KBS 2TV 'Salim Nam Season 2' (hereafter 'Salim Nam') on the 24th, the second story of Park Seo-jin and his sister's first experience as haenyeo (female divers) and the reunion of Sechs Kies members Ko Ji-yong, Eun Ji-won, and Jang Su-won after 10 years was depicted. The viewership rating recorded 6.1% according to Nielsen Korea's nationwide aggregate, and a scene where Eun Ji-won, Ko Ji-yong, and Jang Su-won reminisced while watching materials from their Sechs Kies activities showed a peak rating of 6.7%.
On this day, special MC Kim Dong-jun, an actor from the group Empire of the Sun, appeared. The cast of 'Salim Nam' recalled Kim Dong-jun's passionate performance as Hyun Jong in KBS's historical drama 'Goryeo-Khitan War' and imitated his dialogue tone, bringing laughter.
Following last week, Park Seo-jin revealed his and Hyo-jung's challenge of their first haenyeo experience. Previously, Park Seo-jin had decided to try the haenyeo experience to lift his father's spirits, which had been dampened by his friend's bragging about his grandson. During this, a 40-year veteran haenyeo from Samcheok and her son, a handsome third-year haenyeo, helped Park Seo-jin and his sister.
Park Seo-jin showcased excellent swimming skills and remarkable talent in seafood gathering, as expected from a boy fisherman from Samcheok. The veteran haenyeo acknowledged his abilities, saying, "He could be a haenyeo too."
Meanwhile, Hyo-jung struggled to learn diving from the handsome haenyeo. However, Hyo-jung's smile didn't fade in the presence of the haenyeo's good looks and sweet demeanor. In particular, the haenyeo showed a caring side by helping Hyo-jung, and Hyo-jung admired his kind personality, saying, "He's someone we can't see in our family."
Park Seo-jin smiled contentedly as he watched Hyo-jung and the haenyeo grow closer. He joked, "I received a lot of compliments (for my skills), but Hyo-jung seemed to struggle a bit. But she doesn't have to do well. She can gather something else. She can gather love," and smiled happily as the haenyeo continued to take care of Hyo-jung. In a subsequent conversation, Park Seo-jin revealed, "A man knows a man, and when I saw how well he took care of Hyo-jung, I thought he seemed like a good guy."
Then, Park Seo-jin secretly invited their parents to a meal with the haenyeo and her mother, quickly arranging a meeting. While the haenyeo prepared the food, Park Seo-jin's family joyfully imagined connecting the haenyeo and Hyo-jung, and Park Seo-jin joked, "It seems like we'll see grandchildren soon." In response, Park Seo-jin's father also smiled widely, saying to his wife, "It seems like we don't have long to wait for grandchildren."
Hyo-jung, however, couldn't hide her laughter as she said, "The three of us are drinking kimchi soup. Does the other person like me?" Later, the haenyeo kindly took care of Hyo-jung throughout the meal, and seeing her eat well, he said, "You look really pretty when you eat well. I like women who eat well," creating a warm atmosphere. Ultimately, Park Seo-jin's family all fell for the haenyeo's charm, expressing their fondness and raising expectations for the development of their relationship.
The reunion scene of the third main characters of 'Memory Salim Nam', Ko Ji-yong, Eun Ji-won, and Jang Su-won, was also revealed. After about 10 years since Sechs Kies's reunion, they shared deep joy, and Eun Ji-won, who rushed over, warmly hugged Ko Ji-yong as a greeting. Eun Ji-won, seeing Ko Ji-yong's changed appearance, expressed relief, saying, "I'm glad you gained weight compared to what I was worried about," and Ko Ji-yong explained, "I was generally not well back then. I drank a lot due to stress, was busy with work, and my liver wasn't good, so my overall balance was off," adding, "I'm much better now."
Ko Ji-yong and Jang Su-won naturally talked about parenting and asked Eun Ji-won about his marriage and plans for children. Eun Ji-won candidly shared, "I feel like having a child would be a disservice to the child, and I might not be around when they go to college." He also added, "I will get married. If I keep going like this, I might really die alone. I need someone to call 119 when I collapse," making everyone laugh.
Celebrating their 28th anniversary since debut, the three shared behind-the-scenes stories from their Sechs Kies activities and reminisced. Looking back at past activity photos and interviews, they laughed while recalling the fight scene between Eun Ji-won and Ko Ji-yong during the filming of the movie 'Seventeen'. "It's fun to think about the old days," and "That time was enjoyable," they reflected on past moments.
Finally, Ko Ji-yong expressed, "It's so nice to see you after a long time," and Jang Su-won also said, "I thought it might be awkward since it's been a while, but it wasn't at all." Eun Ji-won warmly told Ko Ji-yong, "I was worried, but you look much healthier than before. Please take good care of your health in the future."
In this episode of 'Salim Nam', the pink atmosphere between Hyo-jung and the haenyeo created excitement, and Park Seo-jin's reactions while watching added to the laughter. Additionally, the reunion of Sechs Kies's Ko Ji-yong, Eun Ji-won, and Jang Su-won after 10 years provided deep emotional moments.
