Billy Joel (76), the American singer-songwriter famous for 'Piano Man', is halting his activities due to a brain disease diagnosis.
According to the NYT on the 23rd (local time), Billy Joel announced through his official social media that he has recently been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) and will cancel all scheduled concerts.
Billy Joel's team explained, "His condition has worsened due to recent concert performances, leading to issues with hearing, vision, and balance," adding, "He is currently undergoing physical therapy as per the doctor's instructions and has been advised to refrain from performances during the recovery period."
The NPH he has been diagnosed with is a rare condition caused by an accumulation of excess cerebrospinal fluid in the brain, known to cause symptoms such as walking difficulties and bladder control issues.
In response, Billy Joel said, "I apologize for disappointing the audience and thank you for your understanding."
Since the early 1970s, Billy Joel has dominated the pop scene, releasing numerous hit songs including 'Piano Man', 'Just the Way You Are', 'Honesty', and 'Uptown Girl'. Last year, he released a new song, 'Turn the Lights Back On', after a 20-year hiatus.
