'Popeye Uncle' the late Lee Sang-yong will rest in peace.
The funeral for the late Lee Sang-yong will be held at 8:30 AM on the 12th at the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital funeral hall.
Lee Sang-yong suddenly collapsed on his way to a nearby hospital in Seocho-gu, Seoul, after experiencing symptoms of a cough and cold on the 9th, and was urgently transported to Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, but ultimately passed away.
His family, who were residing in Hong Kong, returned to the country, and the mourning hall was set up for a day. Junior colleagues from the entertainment industry visited the mourning hall to pay their respects.
Born in Seocheon, Chungcheongnam-do, Lee Sang-yong debuted as a co-MC on MBC's 'Pleasant Cheongbaekjeon' in 1973 and hosted KBS's 'Let's Sing Together' for nine years starting in 1975, gaining great love as 'Popeye.'
He also received nationwide affection while hosting MBC's 'Stage of Friendship,' which aired from 1989 to 1997.
