The production team of ‘Your Love’ has stated that they will “delete as much as possible” regarding the controversial participant Liwon.
Display Company, the producer of the first domestic lesbian dating program, Wave's original entertainment show ‘Your Love’, released an official statement on the 4th, saying, “We are currently readjusting the editing direction to delete the scenes of the participant as much as possible in principle.”
However, they added, “Since ‘Your Love’ is based on a narrative structure where the emotions and relationships between participants are organically intertwined, some scenes are connected to the individual narratives of other participants. Only scenes that need to preserve the amount and context may be limitedly exposed after prior consent and confirmation from the participants.”
They stated, “We are listening to concerns about the relationships between participants and worries that it may affect the program's development,” and emphasized, “Claims of collusion or biased editing intentions between the production team and participants are not true, and we hope that this information does not get exaggerated or spread as fact.”
Additionally, they stated, “There is absolutely no intention to favor a specific participant or treat them maliciously. The pre-verification process for participants includes checking criminal records, in-depth interviews, personal information verification, and consent procedures, and if this information is deemed false, it constitutes a breach of contract. Similarly, any act of exposing on social media without the production team's consent also constitutes a breach of contract,” and emphasized, “We will take appropriate follow-up actions according to the seriousness of the above content.”
‘Your Love’ faced controversy when it was revealed that participant Liwon (Kim Liwon) had previously worked as an adult broadcast BJ and was suspected of being heterosexual.
In response, Liwon stated, “I have conducted private content broadcasts for a total of 3 years: 2 years from 2016 to 2018, about 4 months from November 2021 to March 2022, and about 7 months from February 2024 to September 2024,” acknowledging her BJ activities, but added, “During my broadcasting activities, I had a total of 6 dinner dates, and all meetings were healthy dining occasions without physical contact. I sincerely apologize for disappointing and hurting many people by participating in the program without informing the production team about my past due to my own greed.” She emphasized her sexual identity as “a woman who loves women.”
Liwon further stated, “The broadcasts I did were wrong, and I do not support that industry. The underground should not come to the surface; I agree and accept that it is harmful to youth,” and added, “I currently have another job and thought that all of my past was settled, which is why I participated in the program. I sincerely apologize for causing trouble to the program and hurting the other participants. It also truly pains me that my actions could create a wrong prejudice against LGBTQ+ individuals. I take full responsibility.”
Moreover, she added, “After the program ends, I will not show my face in the media in Korea again. I will live hidden so as not to cause discomfort or burden to anyone again.”
Despite this, as the controversy and criticism continued, the production company announced on the 2nd that they would suspend the airing of episodes 3 and 4, which were scheduled to be released, to take time for reorganization.
