Singer and actress IU spoke about her publicly dating boyfriend Lee Jong-suk.
The Netflix series ‘You’re So Dead’ tells the adventurous life of the rebellious girl Aesoon, born in Jeju, and the clumsy Gwan-sik, unfolding through the four seasons. It vividly portrays the tumultuous lives of two people who grew up together in Jeju but were completely different in every way, from their innocent teenage years to their unpredictable young adulthood, and through the challenges life throws at them in their middle-aged years.
The series is a collaboration between writer Im Sang-chun of ‘When the Camellia Blooms’ and director Kim Won-seok of ‘Misaeng’. IU plays young Aesoon, while Moon So-ri plays adult Aesoon. Park Bo-gum portrays young Gwan-sik, and Park Hae-joon plays adult Gwan-sik. IU also takes on the role of Aesoon's daughter, Geum-myeong, effectively performing dual roles.
Within just one day of its release, it topped the Netflix ‘Top 10 Series in South Korea’ ranking. Even after the release of the fourth act, it maintained its number one position, receiving positive reviews from viewers.
When asked about her boyfriend Lee Jong-suk's reaction, IU said, “He’s very busy right now, so I think he probably hasn’t had a chance to watch the work.” IU has been in a public relationship with actor Lee Jong-suk since December 2022.
She continued, “Today is the last day of promoting ‘You’re So Dead’, and since this is a drama-related event, I want to remain as ‘Aesoon’ who only knows about Gwan-sik for now. I think I can talk about it tomorrow,” she said playfully.
When asked about her ideal type, IU said, “I haven’t thought deeply about it. However, I have accumulated a lot of data on great male characters in Korean dramas, but Gwan-sik is such a new approach. I wonder if there’s another person like Gwan-sik in reality. He seems too perfect yet human to set as a standard for an ideal type.”
When the topic of marriage came up, she said, “While filming, there hasn’t been a significant personal change, but if Gwan-sik were the husband and Geum-myeong and Eun-myeong were the children, wouldn’t that be the best family? If such a family is guaranteed,” she added, “But since it’s not guaranteed, life is hard to predict,” she joked.
