The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in the United States is holding an exhibition that highlights the creative filmmaking process of director Bong Joon-ho.

According to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on the 23rd (local time), the exhibition titled 'Director's Inspiration: Bong Joon-ho' will run from next month, the 23rd, until January 10, 2027.

The Director's Inspiration series is an exhibition where the Academy Museum selects one film director to focus on their body of work.

This exhibition is structured around Bong Joon-ho's creative filmmaking process, his past works, and the impact he has had on the film industry. It will showcase over 100 original items, including archival materials and personal collections of Bong Joon-ho that have never been publicly displayed before, as well as storyboards, research materials, movie posters, concept art, models, props, and photographs from film sets.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures stated, "Whether set in 1980s Korea or an imagined future, Bong Joon-ho's films illuminate transnational and universal issues such as class disparity, social injustice, environmental crises, and political and moral corruption."

It also explained, "From his early short films to the globally successful 'The Host' and the Academy Award-winning 'Parasite,' his works refuse simple categorization, blending social critique into very entertaining, unexpected, and thought-provoking stories."

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which is the largest film museum in the U.S. and was opened in LA by the Academy Foundation, which oversees the Academy Awards (Oscars), exhibits various film-related heritage and carefully selects films to screen that are worthy of commemoration.

Bong Joon-ho's film 'Parasite' won four awards, including Best Picture, at the 2020 Academy Awards.

The Academy Museum has held retrospectives featuring works by Korean actors Song Kang-ho and Youn Yuh-jung, but this is the first long-term exhibition focusing specifically on the body of work of a Korean director. This exhibition is sponsored by CJ ENM, the Korea Foundation (KF), and Netflix.
