Lee Nak-jun, the creator of ‘Severe Trauma Center’ and an ENT specialist, expressed his anger over allegations of being a Chinese immigrant.
On the 14th, Lee Nak-jun posted on the community board of the YouTube channel ‘Doctor Friends’, saying, “I wonder if I need to clarify this, but for about a month, I've been receiving comments like this, and today I just exploded.”
He continued, “We are not Chinese immigrants. All three of us are military doctors from the same class. We fulfilled our duty to defend as citizens of the Republic of Korea,” adding, “I and Jin Seung served at the Aerospace Medical Center, and Woo Chang served in the Army's 7th Division. Both my paternal and maternal grandfathers are veterans of the Korean War. My paternal grandfather was a student soldier, and my maternal grandfather fought on the front lines during the 1.4 retreat as an artillery officer against the North Korean and Chinese armies alongside the U.S. military, and he is now at the Daejeon National Cemetery.”
He emphasized, “I really wonder where these rumors are coming from, and even while writing this, I don’t understand what this... what this allegation is about. Anyway, we are not Chinese immigrants.”
In addition, Lee Nak-jun captured and shared comments such as “Two of the three are Chinese immigrants, is that true?”, “Were you Chinese friends?”, and “Chinese Zhongguoren.”
Recently, some supporters of President Yoon Suk-yeol, along with right-wing online communities and YouTubers, have been spreading rumors related to Chinese immigrants. Fake news is circulating, including rumors that Yoo Jae-suk is a Chinese immigrant, that “Chinese immigrants do not pay inheritance tax,” and that “there is a special admission process for Chinese immigrants in medical schools.”
