Multi-content studio Highground has entered into a business agreement with Blinton to expand their global IP business through joint planning, production, and distribution of content.
On the 12th, Highground stated, “This business agreement aims to enhance the competitiveness of our content business in domestic and international markets by fostering mutual cooperation in planning, production, and distribution of global content projects,” and added, “We will jointly participate in the production projects of four global short-form dramas, including domestic and international dramas.”
Currently, two dramas are in collaboration. They are producing dramas based on famous Hollywood IPs and popular webtoon originals. This project will serve as a starting point for mutual cooperation in producing various types of content IPs, including dramas, short-forms, and mid-forms.
The short-form dramas will target global platforms such as Reelshot and DramaBox, with a total of four pieces of content produced annually. The goal is to create well-made short-form content that can sufficiently touch the emotions of viewers, despite its brevity. The short-form dramas will be produced as Highground's own IP.
Highground expects that the combination of Blinton's vast content database and its own expertise in planning and producing dramas, films, and series will enable efficient and high-level content development.
Choi Yoon-ho, CEO of Blinton, stated, “We expect that many new and proven contents will be discovered through Highground's high-level production expertise,” and added, “We will strive to contribute to K-content playing a central role in the rapidly changing global content industry.”
Lee Eun-jin, head of content planning at Highground, said, “With this business agreement with Blinton, we plan to thoroughly analyze the trends of demand across different platforms to produce high-quality customized content,” and added, “We will further diversify our lineup portfolio across various genres and formats in line with the rapidly changing content trends.”
Lee Eun-jin has previously served as the main director for KBS's 'Love According to Law' and 'I Can’t Die'. She recently joined Highground and plays a key role in planning and developing its own IP.
Highground has recently showcased dramas such as 'DNA Lover', 'Good or Bad Dong-jae', and 'The Suspicious Girl'. The film 'The Secret That Cannot Be Told', released last month, continues to enjoy long-term success at the box office.
This year, they are preparing to produce various genres of works, including 'Unknown Seoul', 'Confidence Man KR', and 'Good Man'.
